Please note that a pump may have a description of 2m, this means that at 2m the pump will have little to no flow at all. Generally a pump will be best at half of its maximum height although this depends greatly on the width and type as well as the height of water feature.
If the pump is to be used for filtering a pond the general rule is that the pump should be the same capacity as the pond, for example if your pond is 1000 litres the pump should be capable of 1000 litres per hour and the UV/Bio filter 2000 litres per hour.
